Tech’s worst week since June, and Anthropic opens its books
The Nasdaq fell about 4.5% this week and the S&P 500 about 1.9%, both their worst weeks since June, as investors questioned how the AI build-out is being paid for.
Anthropic’s numbers, as discussed on All-In: $16.8 billion of revenue last quarter, customers spending nine times more than a year ago, and an IPO valuation target of about $2 trillion. Some figures are secondhand investor estimates.
Betting markets now give Anthropic a 74% chance of going public this year, down from 95% in early September.
CoreWeave fell nearly 12% on Friday. Traders on Polymarket give it a 23% chance of bankruptcy by the end of 2028; one All-In host called that “dumb”, because each data centre is financed separately.
Nvidia held up better, slipping 1.4% on Friday to $214.13, a market value of $5.17 trillion.
